Why Be Hyped about Chick-fil-A

Two reasons to be hyped about Chick-fil-A: They still show honor to the first and second greatest Commandments.

Why does Chick-fil-A bring in significantly more revenue per restaurant than McDonald’s, Wendy’s, Burger King, or KFC?  And they do this while being opened for 52 fewer days per year!  Again, the answer, I strongly believe, can be attributed to their regard for the two tables of The Law of God.

I highly suspect that, if I look closely at all, I can find plenty of flaws to provide fodder for the pessimist — “any fool can criticize” (Dale Carnegie);  but I’d rather approach this comment post with a spirit of gratitude.

Chick-fil-A honors the first table of the Law, particularly the 4th commandment to "remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy," by being closed on Sundays!
Praise the LORD!  They honor God's Word, so He blesses them with financial success.  ~  Ladies & Gentlemen, this demonstrates how true it is that, just because 6 days of labor brings in more profit than 5, it doesn't necessarily mean that therefore 7 days of labor will bring more profit than 6.  While the proverb is true that "in all labour there is profit" (Proverbs 14:23), it is also true that there is yet greater profit in Christian piety: "He ... knows nothing ... [who supposes] that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.  But godliness with contentment is great gain." (1 Timothy 6:4-6)

Chick-fil-A puts real flowers on their dining tables!
While other companies look for ways to thin out their product while keeping their price competitive, Chick-fil-A puts flowers on their tables.  Isn't that just an unnecessary cost to the company?  Why not save the money and just offer the bare minimum of the customer's expectations?  ~  Well, the flowers on the table suggest that Chick-fil-A actually cares about people.  They want to bless people, their customers.  You've probably felt the difference between a salesman who smiles and shakes your hand because he believes that to be the quickest way to your wallet versus another guy who smiles, shakes your hand, and proceeds to tell you that you can better find what you want at the other store down the road.  And why does he send you down the road? To a store that isn't paying him any commission?  Because he actually cares about you.  He wants to bless you, a bearer of the image of God.

People are likely to return to where they feel valued.  (The first time I patronized a Chick-fil-A, I heard the song "In Christ Alone" on the Muzak.)  Chick-fil-A acts like they value God and like they value people.  If it's just an act, it's a good one.  They've got me buyin' it.  And that's why I plan to return.
